For those who follow recruiting, the recruiting rankings help define the quality of recruiting classes, help spur young players to great performances over the summer when they feel they have been slighted, and provide a bit of a platform for discussing the future for many of us... it's quiet in these basketball-free months.
From Rivals NEW 2012 top 150, here are the rankings for the main St. John's targets in 2012:
+ Kyle Anderson is their #4 player in the country, after Isaiah Austin (committed to Baylor), Shabazz Muhammad, and Andre Drummond.
+ Ricardo Gathers - who spent the weekend balling at IS 8 with already-committed St. John's recruit Jevon Thomas with the Juice All-Stars - clocks in at 35.
+ Jevon Thomas comes in the list at 108, a bit of a drop from where he was (I believe he was in the 90s before). He's well-regarded, and I wouldn't be surprised to see him go on a tear this summer. Why so low? We'll have to look into it.
We will catch up with the action from IS8, tracking the Red Storm recruits - and the 2011 players who came in this weekend to get a little high-profile basketball in with their incoming classmates.
