Joe Panik went undrafted out of John Jay HS in upstate New York. At 6 foot and 175 pounds, he was just another smallish middle infielder with potential at the plate, but plenty of question marks as far as how he would project at the next level. In three years at St. John’s, all Panik did was work to bust those stereotypes. He added 20 pounds of muscle, improved his speed and agility and became a better overall athlete. Panik even grew two inches... "That was kind of motivation just for me to work, work as hard as I can to get an opportunity," Panik told The Post. "Going into St. John’s, I would have never thought first round to the Giants."
