2:00 weekday games are killers crowd wise. The student sections were full and loud and a crowd gradudally filtered in but the upper levels were essentially empty. The first half of the game was youth on display. They were running too fast, not in sync with each other, and not finishing off plays. Sampson really struggled in the first half and was making bad decisions shot wise. What was evident was that the playing time that the Fresh Five put in last season will pay off this season. When it came time to settle down and get back into the game, Garrett, Greene and D'Angello took over and looked like upperclassmen pulling their team back. Detroit is a good team - make no mistake about that. Obekpa was no joke in the lane. His timing on the blocks was unbelievable and he looked like a tiger about to pounce on his prey whenever he set up in front of a shooter. Obverall, they were able to overcome the opening night (afternoon) jitters and grab a good win. Hopefully they settle down a bit in Charleston.
