The regular season ended with a 61-58 setback at the hands of Rutgers. The group at Rutgers is relatively young, as is St. John’s, but this was a very stern test as the Rutgers Athletic Center is rarely an inviting locale those not in home white.
The Possessions:
St. John’s 64
Rutgers 64
A relatively slower pace
The Efficiency:

Neither offense lit it up on the scoreboard or in the efficiency numbers. Rutgers was just slightly better. Call it a combination of better than average defense but subpar offense for Mike Dunlap's group.

Individual notes:
A good sign entering the Big East Tournament, Gog'sgift Achiuwa was second in efficiency while setting the pace in efficiency per minute. Continued contributions ffrom the 6-8 freshman will be greatly appreciated, and needed. Achiuwa scored 12 points (4 of 5 from the floor) with 8 rebounds and just one turnover.
Greene had only one turnover but 1 of 7 shooting from the floor did not help the numbers.
Harkless grabbed 11 boards, the downside was 4 of 15 shooting with 3 turnovers.
Harrison had a similar fate, 6 of 17 shooting, 5 turnovers.
Pointer scored 4 points but the shooting was under .500, a 2 of 5 from the floor, 0 for 1 on the charity stripe.
