Question for Johnnies on Expansion

Stay connected for news and updates

For the last year or so, St. John's has sat and watched several members of the Big East either leave (Cuse, Pitt, WV) or beg other conferences to take them (Louisville, UConn and Rutgers). While we are not alone, we have had to deal with the watering down of basketball all for a sport for which we get no revenue. There have been several posts on here discussing expansion, etc., but what is everyone's take? The rumor is that if there was a split, St. John's, G'Town, Nova, The Hall, Providence, Marquette, and DePaul would seek to add Xaiver, Dayton and perhaps St. Louis. Couldn't that league get half it's membership in the NCAA each year and get a TV contract that would bring them in about $5 to $8 mil a year? That is more than the schools currently get in the Big East. I guess the question is, which school or schools have to leave before the Catholics should walk, or have those schools already gone. OK, discuss...
