St. John's wing Amir Garrett pitched 3 innings in final outing for Billings; struck out 3 while giving up 1 hit, 1 walk. Look out for more on Garrett's potential in the next few days on Rumble in the Garden.

"I would have liked to thrown more, but (the Reds) are working me along slowly," said Garrett, who averaged 7.4 points and 4.0 rebounds in 22 games for the Red Storm last season. "I’m just going along with what they want to do, so it’s all right."

Garrett did more than all right on Friday by throwing between 91 and 94 mph and averaging 92. He struck out three.

"He’s very raw, but I’ve been very impressed," Mustangs manager Pat Kelly said. "We saw him when he first joined us in Arizona from school and he was way behind on the learning curve. You can see how far he’s come."
