The world didn't end in 2012, but the Big East as we know it will end at the end of this year.
With Syracuse and Pittsburgh definitely headed to the Atlantic Coast Conference after this season, and tumult in the affiliations of the remaining members, this will be the last year of many rivalries fans have come to hold dear.
This season features fifteen teams, fourteen eligible for postseason play, and many of the teams at the bottom have become respectable. There appear to be few easy outs, and every win and loss could be significant at the end of the season for postseason eligibility.
St. John's starts with a pair of road games, trying to mesh a young roster into an explosive unit. Villanova is trying to do the same. St. John's has won the past two conference openers after middling non-conference results. Will they burst on the scene once again in conference play?
