The View From Section 3 - Bucknell

John Alber

Chris Obekpa. He certainly is a game changer. Seven blocks for Chris tonight and the second half ones not only energized the crowd, but energized the Johnnies as well. Bucknell is pretty good. In the first half, they were really ripping through the Storm defense. They were getting in the paint, shooting from outside, just doing a lot to penetrate St. John's defensive schemes. When the Johnnies would get a nice defensive stop, they couldn't convert on the other end. That changed in the second half to an extent and they did what was needed to close the game out. One thing is that they are trying too hard to share the ball sometimes. They would repeatedly run a fast break and end it with an errant pass. Rather than taking it to the hoop and either scoring or drawing a foul, they would dish and waste the transition points. It was nice to see them come back and hold the lead in the second half. Should be noted that D'Angello sat for the majority of the first half with two fouls so his rhythm and numbers were down, but he was clutch from the line in the second half when we needed it. It's good to be 2-1.
