Well that was more like it. Tonight's view was much better than Saturday's as the Johnnies took care of a Humboldt State team that was not very good. You know who was good? God's Gift (side note: The announcer at Carnesecca tonight was not the usual one and he was hard to listen to at times especially when announcing Gift's name. Gift did a better job finishing at the rim, although he still missed a few. What he did really well was make free throws. He has played very aggressive and while he has not finished as many as you would like, he has drawn quite a few fouls and converted from the line. D'Angello did not play his usual minutes but played like D'Angello. Hooper hit a few three pointers which was nice to see. Jakaar was all over the place in the first half. Really played strong and looked like the Rookie of the Year. And Sir Dom is just a great presence on the floor. He really makes things happen for the Johnnies. I am not yet sold on Sanchez. He likely needs some time but so far I'm not sure he should be a starter. I would start with D'Angello, Sampson, Jordan, Pointer and Obekpa. One thing that was in view from section three was Mike Rice sitting behind the St. John's bench. Also there was a contingent of Lumber Jack fans in yellow shirts and hard hats cheering on the visiting team with some strange chants. That's all for the freebees. The real games start this week.
