Villanova 74 St. John's 67: The efficiency numbers

Well, that was not too pretty. Villanova was able to impose their defensive will to earn a 74-67 victory over the Red Storm on Saturday. A look at the St. John’s efficiency numbers for players with ten or more minutes played:

Points

Efficiency

D. Harrison

17

S. Jordan

S. Pointer

J. Sampson

C. Obekpa

O. Sanchez

P. Greene IV

M. Hooper

Not surprising, the individual numbers are not too impressive. A result of the Villanova defense. D’Angelo Harrison led the way. He hit 13 of 14 from the line, committed only one turnover but 4 of 13 from the floor meant nine negative points that affected his efficiency.

Orlando Sanchez (2 of 2) and Chris Obekpa were the only Storm players to hit 50% or better from the field.

JaKarr Sampson led with 9 boards. Sir Dominic Pointer, a player the Storm rely on, came up 1 of 8 from the field and committed 4 turnovers. Only six rebounds and three blocks helped keep his efficiency numbers on the positive side.

Again, no one stood out efficiency wise. Credit Villanova.
