Sloppy play and lack of execution, the result of a revolving door at point guard...

Bryce Cotton started the game and Bryce Cotton damn sure finished the game. So did the freshmen point guards at DePaul and Cuse, so did Pinkston at Nova, and so does everyone else's pg pretty much. We weren't getting any penetration from our pg's and our offense was stagnant. This team is loaded with talented athletic players who require a floor general to get them the ball. The Johnnies have no semblance of team right now, only players on a court. This is a difficult task, to pick which men to use at which positions, to formulate a team. Nonetheless this us Lavin's responsibility and he has thus far been unable to mold this lump of clay into anything other than a lump of really nice clay. I have faith in Lav and in these kids. I drive 60 miles each way from the east end of Long Island to go to as many games as I can. The trip is even further to the garden.... Two years ago when we had Mo and Nurideen and coach Dunlap I had season tickets. I love this group and so badly want them to succeed. But when Cotton penetrated and hit the game winning shot, and got the call, he glared up at the Johnnies fans and let them know he was exactly what they were missing. A leader who could attack the rim for a high percentage shot in crunch time. I said early on Jamal should be the point. It was clear Lav was going with freshman so I supported it but nope, after last night I'm back in Jamal's corner. He has been here working his tail off since transferring. He would of been well established as our point had Lubick not derailed him last season. This season is not over and this ship can be righted but it will only happen when Lav starts a pg and sticks with him. My vote is for Jamal and D'angelo to be put in and left alone. Add Dom, Jakarr and Obekpa, give them around 30 minutes each and stop overthinking this thing. Second unit can be primo and the prince at the 1 and 4 with a sprinkle of Phil. That's our 8. Hooper if D gets into foul trouble and the same for Gift with Primo and Obekpa. What have we got to lose by going with Jamal at this point? He is the facilitator we are lacking and his inconsistent play so far is a direct result of inconsistent minutes, C'mon Lav let him have a chance to start, he has earned it. My two cents...
