Tuesday, December 2nd, 2014 When: 7:00 PM Eastern St. John's (4-1) vs Niagara Purple Eagles (1-3) Pomeroy Rank: St. John's: 43 | Niagara: 271 Carnesecca Arena (Capacity: 5,602) Where: New York, NY TV: FoxSports1 (Live only; Brian Custer and Tarik Turner) Radio: WMCA 570 Line: St. John's, -17.5 |
Did you know that St. John's meets Niagara for the 99th time, the most for a non-conference opponent? The Johnnies have only played Villanova (109), Providence (103) and Georgetown (101) more.
But St. John's has not met the Purple Eagles since 2007, and have beaten the Purple Eagles in eight of the last ten games.
The real push in this game is for St. John's to take the game seriously, play as if they have a game plan and not like they just woke up. Because as halftime results against Franklin pierce and LIU-Brooklyn show, and as the Robert Morris game last year showed, the Red Storm are vulnerable when they're not bringing their A-game, when they're not playing hard, cohesive basketball.
A team with real top-25 aspirations and a date with Syracuse on Saturday should be serious. But will they be?
And will the Red Storm find time for the bench of Christian Jones, Myles Stewart and Amar Alibegovic?
