D`Angelo Harrison once again named to the Big East honor roll. "Averaged 25.5 points and 5.0 rebounds in a 1-1 week. Scored 15 points with seven rebounds in a 53-52 win at No. 14/15 Cincinnati."
"Upon information and belief, the new withdrawal fee of $10 million arbitrarily applies to some, but not all, of the Big East football schools, and the effect is to penalize certain members if they seek to withdraw," the complaint states. Rutgers claims that none of the other schools that left the conference were held to the 27-month/$5 million fee standard. "Moreover, the Big East's excusal of noncompliance by Syracuse, Pittsburgh, TCU, and WVU with the 27 month notice provision of the Bylaws constitutes a waiver of this same provision with respect to Rutgers," the complaint states.

In case you missed it, Steve Lavin and St. John's hosted "An Evening with St. John's Basketball" last week in Manhattan. The event, emceed by Boomer Esiason and Craig Carton, raised $200,000 for the program. For a program to be successful, it relationship with donors and other benefactors is key. It sounds like the night was a success and will continue as an annual tradition.
Rysheed Jordan "liked" his visit to St. John's. Also, the other St. John's targets Jerell Martin and Jermaine Lawrence are expected to sign in the spring. Which is to say "don't expect a commit anytime soon."
Just before the 2012-13 season starts, Steve Lavin is intently working on next year's recruiting class. According to Adam Zagoria, 2013 standouts Rysheed Jordan and Ishmail Wainright are high atop the Red Storm's list. Jordan will officially visit campus this weekend for "Dribble for the Cure," while Lavin visited Wainright on Tuesday.
Martin is official. "Darrick has a great basketball mind and is an excellent student and teacher of the game. He's a bona fide gym rat who is dedicated to achieving greatness," said Earvin "Magic" Johnson in the press release.

So you know: At 5560, the @stjcoachlavin Twitter has the 42nd most followers on this list of Division 1 coaches, tied with Rutgers' Mike Rice. Steve Lavin's twitter has fewer followers than fellow Big East coaches Jay Wright (8499) of Villanova, Mike Brey (8288) of Notre Dame, Jamie Dixon (8066) of Pitt, and Mick Cronin (7622) of Cincinnati.
Jon Rothstein of CBS Sports and WFAN says St. John's freshman forward Christian Jones will be one of the nation's top 20 under-the-rader freshmen in 2012-13. We haven't heard all too much about Jones since he committed to the Red Storm in July, but the experts seem to think he will play a significant role off the bench this year. "Burly forward isn’t the most highly touted member of the Red Storm’s freshmen class — but that doesn’t mean he isn’t going to be valuable. The 6-7 Jones has a nice blend of strength and skill that should allow him to effect the game in a multitude of ways while potentially serving as Steve Lavin’s top front court reserve."
