I am CLEAR by the NCAA!!! Let's goooo
So, while it is technically true that the conference's name and changes to it will be a part of this review, the conference name is unlikely to change in the re-branding effort.
I've been assured that the conference, and new commissioner Mike Aresco in particular, appreciate the value of the Big East name and its name recognition for events like the annual Big East Tournament in Madison Square Garden. Don't expect the Big East name to be going anywhere any time soon.

St. John's wing Amir Garrett pitched 3 innings in final outing for Billings; struck out 3 while giving up 1 hit, 1 walk. Look out for more on Garrett's potential in the next few days on Rumble in the Garden.
"I would have liked to thrown more, but (the Reds) are working me along slowly," said Garrett, who averaged 7.4 points and 4.0 rebounds in 22 games for the Red Storm last season. "I’m just going along with what they want to do, so it’s all right."
Garrett did more than all right on Friday by throwing between 91 and 94 mph and averaging 92. He struck out three.
"He’s very raw, but I’ve been very impressed," Mustangs manager Pat Kelly said. "We saw him when he first joined us in Arizona from school and he was way behind on the learning curve. You can see how far he’s come."
- Rider is still awaiting word on a waiver for St. John’s transfer Nurideen Lindsey. The Broncs are hopeful that Lindsey, who played nine games last season for the Red Storm will be able to play for the full duration of next season rather than just the second semester. The talented combo guard transferred to the southern New Jersey school last December to be closer to his native Philadelphia and has a viable case to be cleared due to a difficult family situation. With waivers being handed out left and right for kids transferring back to their home areas, Lindsey has a more than reasonable chance of getting the benefit of the doubt. During his nine game stint at St. John’s last season, Lindsey averaged 12.4 points, 4.9 rebounds, and 2.8 assists per game.
