Jamal Branch was examined in New York on Monday, and the original diagnosis of an MCL sprain has been confirmed.
Osric King, M.D. examined Branch's left knee on Monday, and the guard continues to be treated by team athletic trainer Ron Linfonte.
Branch will undergo an MRI on Tuesday. His status remains day-to-day and, though Branch's chances of playing Wednesday night against Connecticut seem low, he is listed as uncertain for the game.
The Texas A&M transfer, who joined the team on December 21st after sitting out a year due to transfer regulations, was beginning to make a big impact for the Johnnies. Once Steve Lavin inserted Branch into the starting lineup regularly, St. John's went on a five-game winning streak.
