St. John's basketball offers scholarship to combo guard Sean Kilpatrick

sean kilpatrick shooting, from the journal newsSt. John’s has offered a scholarship to another basketball player— 6'5" Sean Kilpatrick of White Plains High. He’s not Irish, if you were wondering. But he’s developed into a solid scorer, and has been increasing in attention.

He is being advised by Gerard Jones, who is Kevin Jones’ older brother. Kevin Jones was interested in St. John’s, but chose to sign with West Virginia for next year’s college basketball season.

There were some worries about his grades, but these quotes from Zagsblog lead us to believe that Kilpatrick will have his academics in order, so he can play in 08-09, and not have to attend prep school to become eligible. Gerard Jones claims he can play the point, where St. John’s will need help with senior captain Eugene Lawrence graduating next year.

According to the Lower Hudson Valley Journal News, St. John’s is considered Kilpatrick’s dream school, which makes me hopeful that he’ll actually sign with the Red Storm. He might be a slightly-under the radar get for St. John's, one that fulfills the dire scoring need of the team.
