Gametime! Open thread, St. John's vs Notre Dame Fighting Irish Pt 2

St. John's seeks revenge for the drubbing a week and a day ago in snowy South Bend. Rumble in the Garden preview.

Notes/ news:

* Rob Thomas, the missing forward, will be on the bench as a student-assistant coach. He has been working on his academics.

* Recruit Phil Greene will be in the house, checking out the Garden. Let's hope the Johnnies' staff can close the deal, he is a solid combo guard with a decent shot and room for improvement. And he's from Chicago.

* Signee Sir'Dominic Pointer (or Dom Pointer, or Ziggy) will be checking out the action from the elite seats as well; he's in town playing in the Big Apple Invitational. Signed forwards Maurice Harkless and Dwight Miekle are also playing in the set of games at Baruch. All had some tough outings, but Coach Steve Lavin was in the audience with Rico Hines and Tony Chiles, and had some feedback. Lavin described Harkless as a combination of Rudy Gay and Trevor Ariza, but mentioned that he had to keep his effort level up and dominate the opposition over the course of the game - a common criticism of Harkless. The future is bright.

* Queens native Tyrone Nash of Notre Dame is excited to play in front of friends and family.
