The basketball season is coming for the men's and women's teams. And we at the Rumble are going through some changes - we have a new contributor, Jaden Daly (welcome him!). We have a new logo to go along with some super secret changes to come.

In case you missed any of our articles, a recap of the past two weeks on the Rumble:

Around the Big East

Central Florida (future member) still sifting through effects of NCAA penalties

St. John's basketball schedules are out; plan your winter accordingly.

The men's basketball schedule is posted; Quinn dug deep to give you some nuggets about the Big East matchups. The schedule with opponents wins and losses is also available on that page. And we took a look back at the 2011-12 season in numbers - the good and the bad. Some of those numbers will surprise you. And if you didn't know, D`Angelo Harrison might just be the Big East's best returning offensive player.

For his first post, Jaden delved just as deep to look at the women's basketball schedule. The women's team is coming off of an excellent season, but welcome a new coach to the fold. The Rumble discusses the St. John's women's basketball schedule

More, below the fold.

Assistant coach search

The search for an assistant coach to replace Mike Dunlap seems to be coming to a close. Former UCLA player Darrick Martin is the rumored choice for the Red Storm - we assume it'll be one of the announcements coming this week from St. John's basketball.

John Anderson is your host for Red Storm Tip-Off

Friday October 12th - Red Storm Tip-Off! No word on whether it will be televised nationally or through STJ-TV, but John Anderson, familiar from ESPN's Sportscenter, will emcee the event.

Big East considering a name change?

We noted an article (we saw a link on Charlie Springer's blog, Card Game), that quickly spread through the blogosphere like wildfire, where Bloomberg Business news quoted interim commissioner Joe Bailey as stating that the Big East would consider a name change as the league incorporates a number of new western members.

Being the kind of idea that naturally made many people roll their eyes or run to the cliff in a panic, the league office contacted SB Nation's Big East Coast Bias to say that the discussion of a name "tweak" was premature at best.

So put the pitchforks down. I mean it. The torches and the spiked mace, too. Let's not get medieval on the league offices yet.

Former Red Storm players on the move

Justin Burrell signed with Cholet Basket in France. Dunks, croissants, and champagne for everybody!

Mentioned in the St. John's blogosphere here first - Malik Stith has transferred to Fairmont State for his last year of eligibility.
