St. John's recent recruiting efforts yielded two huge classes; Steve Lavin will finally enjoy a full roster as he heads into his third year of his "Ark". But with God`sgift Achiuwa graduating, there is a scholarship available next school year - and the staff is targeting some high-end targets to fill the gap.
One target is point guard Rysheed Jordan is scheduled to come to the St. John's campus for an official visit this weekend, while Dribble for the Cure raises money for cancer research.
From the Adam Zagoria blog post linked above:
Lavin and Johnnies assistant Tony Chiles watched the 6-foot-4 Jordan work out last week at Philly Vaux Roberts High. He is also being courted by Rutgers, Villanova, Maryland, UCLA and others.
In addition to the St. John’s visit, Jordan will trip to UCLA Sept. 28-30 and to Maryland Oct. 12-14 for their Midnight Madness.
St. John's has been courting Jordan for years, though the Red Storm name hasn't often been listed as one of his four or five schools. Rysheed Jordan is a big point guard, immensely athletic, often spoken of as strong and explosive. He is adept with his dribble and can draw contact, and is a strong defender.
The staff is also looking at forward Ismail Wainright and forward Jermaine Lawrence.
