Ishmail Wainright, the talented small forward from Montrose Christian has cut his college recruiting list down to four. Texas, Ohio State, Baylor and St. John's, according to SNY's Adam Zagoria.
The 6-6, 235 pound prospect has had many offers which included Duke, Syracuse, UCLA, Arizona, and a slew of other top-tier schools. But Wainright has chosen his final four.
In 2011, Wainright had committed to Missouri, but had a change of heart leading him back into the recruiting pool. Just months later, coaches across the nation are salivating over the possibility of landing the gifted forward.
Last week, Johnnies head coach Steve Lavin visited Wainright. Lavin, while pitching why St. John's is the right fit, explained to the prospect why he could be a great addition to the already-deep Red Storm roster.
"First of all, the education [at St. John's] is great," Wainright told SNY.tv. "And the playing style. Coach Lavin said he's going to let the wings basically run the team, the one through four is capable of playing a different position."
Currently, St. John's wing positions include Amir Garrett, Sir`Dominic Pointer, and incoming freshman JaKarr Sampson. But there are never enough extending and high-flying wings in Lavin's ark.
