This Friday evening's Red Storm Tip-Off* isn't only a chance for fans to get hyped by DJ's scrimmages, dunks, and video introductions - it's a recruiting opportunity.
Much like last year, the Rumble will monitor which players are coming for the Tip-Off event.
The big name the Johnnies were hoping to get to attend is now confirmed by Zagsblog: Isaiah Briscoe, the physical 2015 combo guard. Steve Lavin has gone to see Briscoe at his high school practices multiple times - most recently on Sunday - and is hot after the star guard from Roselle Catholic High School in Roselle, NJ (Union County).
He left St. Benedict's Prep, where he played last season, for Roselle Catholic. According to reports, he stepped back from the recruiting process to decide on a school for his junior season. With interest from the likes of Arizona, Pitt, UCLA, and Seton Hall - where his friend and summer backcourt-mate Isaiah Whitehead will attend next year - competition for the services of the top-25 guard is hot and heavy.

And on how he loves the New York atmosphere, after playing at Dyckman's Big Strick Classic, plus why he feels like Jay-Z these days.
In 2015, St. John's backcourt of Jamal Branch., D`Angelo Harrison, and Phil Greene IV will be gone, and Rysheed Jordan could be as well. There will be a need to replenish the talent level; this week's Tip-Off event should be a crucial tool for drawing in new recruits.
