| Friday, November 15th, 2013 When: 6:00 PM Eastern St. John's (0-1) vs Wagner Seahawks (1-1) Pomeroy Rank: St. John's: 56 | Wagner: 192 Carnesecca Arena (Capacity: 5,602) Where: Queens, NY TV: Fox Sports 2 Radio: Bloomberg 1130 Line: n/a |
Some tendencies to watch for:
Last year's Wagner squad was led by the aggressiveness of Kenneth Ortiz (#15 in green)- a slashing six foot guard who looked to get to the rim and draw fouls with his quickness and wasn't a very good shot from outside the arc. At 44%, he wasn't a great shot inside the arc either, but he got to the line with great frequency and handed out assists.
Fellow guard Latif Rivers (#24 in green) also slashes to the hoop and draws fouls, but he takes around half of his shots from distance.
Valparaiso transfer Jay Harris (#1) is a very good passer, and has been turnover-free in two games this season. Forward Naofall Folahan (#5) fouls a lot, and struggles to stay on the court; when he is on the court, he is a 6'11" athlete in the paint. 6'10" freshman Nolan Long (#32) and senior Orlando Parker (#21) fill in when Folahan is on the bench.
St. John's will look to win the battle of the perimeter, and will try to keep the Seahawks from running.
