Men's Soccer tops Butler & Georgetown, 1-0

The Red Storm traveled to Butler and beat the Bulldogs, 1-0, on Saturday, Oct. 26 and then hosted the Hoyas for senior day and beat Georgetown, 1-0, on Saturday, Nov. 2.

Congratulations to Tim Parker, who repeated as BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Year, while Miguel Alves was named BIG EAST Rookie of the Week after scoring the only goal in a 1-0 win against Georgetown.

St. John's 1, Butler 0

Why wait? Marco Bordon scored the only goal just 34 seconds into the game as the Red Storm traveled to Indianapolis and beat Butler, 1-0. Bordon took a pass from Sean Sepe and sent a rocket from 18 yards out into the left corner of the net.

St. John's 1, Georgetown 0

Who says you need 11 to win? The Red Storm played a man down for the final 47:58 of the game against the visiting Hoyas, but it didn't matter as the Johnnies got a goal in the 71st minute from Alves.

Goalkeeper Rafael Diaz and the Red Storm defense kept the highest-scoring team in the conference off the board and came away with the win on senior day.

Next Up

The Red Storm wrap up the regular season when they travel to Seton Hall to take on the Pirates on Nov. 8. The Johnnies have an outside chance of making the Big East Tournament, according to Anonymous Eagle's men's soccer tournament scenarios.
