| Friday, November 8th, 2013 When: 7:00 PM Eastern St. John's (0-0) vs Wisconsin Badgers (0-0) Pomeroy Rank: St. John's: 47 | Wisconsin: 20 Sanford Pentagon (Capacity: 3,200) Where: Sioux Falls, SD TV: Big Ten Network Radio: Bloomberg 1130 Line: n/a |
Some tendencies to watch for:
Last year's Wisconsin squad was an elite defensive unit - defending without fouling, defending the three-point line with dogged man-to-man looks, and blocking shots with big man Jared Berggren.
Frank Kaminsky (a Chicago-area player - do he and Phil Greene IV know each other? I believe I saw them both play at an all-star game, but I could be mistaken) now portals the paint at 6'11". He wasn't a very good defensive rebounder, and that's something Wisconsin will be watching for. He does, however, have ability to shoot out to the three-point line.
On the other side, St. John's dominates paint play on defense. But their zones have left room for three-point shooters.
Wisconsin will start a three-guard lineup with shooters.
Maybe that's why Steve Lavin was working on man defenses during preseason play?
We welcome back Chris Obekpa, and we welcome in a new season. Let's get it.
