Top-25 Gonzaga return much of their talented core and are stocked with length, excellent shooting and a lot of experience.
Mark Few's backcourt is deep and can scorch the nets with the shooting talents of Kevin Pangos (41% from beyond the three-point line) and Gary Bell (42% from beyond arc) and the bench shooting of Kyle Draginis (36% from deep), while enormous Przemek Karnowski (10 points, seven rebounds, two blocks per game) will be joined by former Kentucky forward Kyle Wiltjer up front, a top-40 player coming out of high school with shooting ability.
And the Zags add slasher Byron Wesley from Southern California; Arydas Sabonis' son, Domatas Sabonis; and top-50 wing Josh Perkins. The team is stacked.
Last year's team was strong defensively, but played a good schedule that lacked top-line opponents; the Zags lost in the third round of the NCAA Tournament to Arizona. This season, the Bulldogs face Arizona again, adding UCLA, SMU and Memphis and the NIT Season Tip-Off to bolster their NCAA Tournament resume.
