Last week's exhibition against Humboldt State revealed the new Chris Obekpa, but also featured a team figuring out how to play without a second big man - not just the loss of Keith Thomas, who would not have played 40 minutes per game, but also the losses of last year's bigs, Orlando Sanchez, Jakarr Sampson and God`sGift Achiuwa.
Rebounding was an issue, and the team struggled to put a good team effort in the first half.
The second exhibition game of the preseason is where the Red Storm hope to get the arrows pointing in the right direction.
What to watch for
Better ball handling.
Rysheed Jordan's eight turnovers are way too much for a player who may be the bellwether of the team. He has to match his scoring aggressiveness with better ball control - and perhaps some of the spectacular assists he can hand out.
Rebounding/ the paint
The issues in the paint won't go away. Chris Obekpa is only one player, and only the best can be one-man rebounding gangs - the Red Storm need glass contributions from the guards, Dir`Dominic Pointer, and the bench.
Game 2, sans jitters
Will Amar Alibegovic and Phil Greene IV provide more support for the Red Storm from the outside than last week?
