St. John's men's basketball Big East schedule, times, channels released: two conference Fox Network games, opening + closing games vs longtime rivals

The Big East portion of the Red Storm schedule has been released, and St. John's will open up on New Year's Eve once more. And once again they will play on the road; this time against the Seton Hall Pirates, who the Red Storm beat twice last year by a combine two points.

The Johnnies have three games on Fox - vs Duke (not listed below), vs Providence, and at Xavier. The game against the Xavier Musketeers in Cincinnati could move to FS1 if one or both teams are not a compelling watch.

The Big East schedule (the full schedule should come out today, and the Rumble will come with analysis then as well):

Interestingly, Fox has farmed some games out to CBS Sports, which allows the league a schedule with fewer strange game days/ short turnarounds (possibly) but also means some games will compete against other league games. For St. John's, here are the overlaps.

• the Butler game on January 3 may compete with Creighton at Georgetown.
• The Villanova at St. John's game will be on the main Fox Sports 1 while Providence and Butler play at the same time on CBS Sports Network.
• Creighton at St. John's on February 7 will tip at the same time as Marquette at Seton Hall at noon.
• DePaul at St. John's will overlap with the hour-earlier tip of Villanova at Providence on February 11.
• St. John's at Xavier will overlap the later tip of Seton Hall and Providence, which will be visible on the Fox Sports Regional (FSN) networks.
• The season finale on Saturday March 7 will either be on Fox or Fox Sports 1, with Seton Hall at Georgetown taking space on the other channel for the noon tip; Butler at Providence will also be on FSN at the same time.
