St. John's finds themselves at 1-4 in Big East play, and need a strong run starting about, oh, now if they want to keep hopes of a Big East Tournament berth alive. Even winning all of the remaining home games would leave St. John's with eight wins; the team will need a few W's on the road and to hold serve at home.

The Johnnies may be fortunate to face the Big East's worst offense in eighth-place Marquette, but at ninth in the standings, the Red Storm have no reason to feel anything but the hot breath of urgency on their backs; the Johnnies have the league's worst defense through five games, mostly thanks to some truly bad second halves that we highlighted this morning.
