Duke vs St. John's sets a FOX record for views

Coach K's 1000th win at the Garden draws big ratings for FOX

Anthony Gruppuso-USA TODAY Sports

Last Sunday's Duke versus St. John's game at Madison Square Garden was broadcasted on FOX and the network broke a record for a college basketball audience with 2.17 million viewers, according to Austin Karp.

Viewers witnessed Duke come back down as many as 10 points in the second half only to help tally Coach Krzyzewski 1,000th win at the school. The St. John's faithful also tuned in to see their team try to pull of a big time quality win on their home floor.

The 77-68 final score did not tell the true tale of how special and intriguing the match-up was. Coach K called the Garden "magical" and fans at home didn't just witness an exciting milestone but they were able to catch a very entertaining affair that featured two teams in a game of runs. Coach K said the showdown seemed like "three different games" and from when the ball was tipped-off Rysheed Jordan and Sir'Dominic Pointer brought their 'A' game.

According to Paint Touches, the 2.17 million viewers that tuned in would have been 30th best in ratings for non-NCAA tournament games last season.
