The Johnnies will be looking to build on their nine point victory over Wagner with a pre-Maui Invitational showdown against UMBC. Federico Mussini, 18 points, was the Red Storm's leading scorer in Chris Mullin's opening game as head coach of his alma mater.

The UMBC Retrievers nearly defeated Wake Forest in Winston-Salem, 78-73, in their first game on Friday. Jourdan Grant, a sophomore guard, scored a team high 20 points on 5-of-10 shooting while Malcolm Brent and Rodney Elliott added 13 apiece.

UMBC started a four guard lineup against the Demon Deacons and were out-rebounded 59-36.

Will St. John's be able to own the glass after getting owned on the offensive glass against the Seahawks?
