St. John's vs. NJIT
When: Sunday, December 20, 2015
Where: Carnesecca Arena
How to Watch: Fox Sports 1
How to Listen: 970 AM WNYM
In this past week alone, we've seen some extreme highs and lows for this young St. John's Red Storm basketball team. The Johnnies followed up a shocking victory over Syracuse at MSG last weekend with an absolute dud on Friday night against the lowly Incarnate Word Cardinals. With they be able to bounce back on short rest today against the NJIT Highlanders?
St. John's (7-4) will once again have shooting guard Malik Ellison at their disposal today, as the freshman scored five points in just 11 minutes in Friday night's loss. Will we see more of the athletic Ellison today?
As for NJIT, the Highlanders come into Carnesecca Arena with a 6-5 record on the young season. They've already taken on Kentucky and Providence this year, losing both games but staying within single-digits against the Friars. They are led in scoring by junior guard Damon Lynn, who averages 17.3 points in nearly 37 minutes per game.
With no players on the NJIT roster above 6'6" who currently average more than 10 minutes per game, one would think that the St. John's front court duo of Yankuba Sima and Kassoum Yakwe can control the paint this afternoon.
A long layoff may have stung the Johnnies on Friday night, but will they be able to turnaround quickly and score a win today against a stingy NJIT team?
