| Tuesday, February 17th, 2015 When: 7:00 PM Eastern St. John's (17-8, 6-6 Big East) vs Georgetown Hoyas (16-8, 8-5 Big East) Pomeroy Rank: St. John's: 36 | Georgetown: 21 Verizon Center (Capacity: 20,600) Where: Washington, DC TV: FOXSports1 | Fox Sports Go Radio: WNYM 970 Line: Georgetown, -7.5 |
When last the two teams met a year ago, St. John's dispatched the Georgetown Hoyas in Manhattan, looking like a team that really had a strong run. Of course, that Hoya squad only won two of its last six Big East games, lost to DePaul in the Big East Tournament, and made the second round of the NIT; while St. John's likely needed one more win to make the NCAAs. That Red Storm team flamed out spectacularly in the NIT.
This year, both teams seem better - even St. John's despite their January swoon. A win over the Hoyas would bring the Johnnies win streak to four games with two good wins for the NCAA Committee.
Old rivals.
Big stakes.
And speaking of big, Georgetown is one of the largest teams in the country. Can St. John's combination of speed and tenacity negate all that size?
