| Thursday, March 12th, 2015 When: 2:31 PM Eastern #5 St. John's (21-10, 10-8) vs #4 Providence Friars (21-10, 11-7) Pomeroy Rank: St. John's: 35 | Providence: 38 Madison Square Garden (Capacity: 19,786) Where:New York, NY TV: Fox Sports 1 | Fox Sports Go Radio: WNYM 970 Line: St. John's, -1.5 |
After three dud games, Fox Sports sure hopes St. John's vs Providence can bring a spark back to Madison Square garden in the second game of the Big East Tournament.
St. John's went 6-2 in the month of February, turning around a season that looked like a loss for the class of seniors - except for the two times they beat Providence and now-Big East co-Player of the Year Kris Dunn.
Must Reads
These Johnnies are more confident than the team that knocked off Providence. They have focus and direction from the aggression of Sir`Dominic Pointer,; and this team is paced in scoring by the efforts of D`Angelo Harrison, Phil Greene IV and Rysheed Jordan, who has become a better jump shooter.
Is that enough to beat the Friars a third time and meet up with the winner of Marquette/ Villanova in the semifinals on Friday night?
Will Chris Obekpa's ankle injury hinder the Johnnies inside? Is Jamal Branch all the way back? Can this roster finally get a Big East Tournament win?
If the Johnnies win, will they improve their NCAA Tournament seeding? If they lose, will they find themselves in the unfavorable #8/ #9 slot (which means a matchup with a #1 seed in the second round)?
And also:
FYI: No @StJohnsBBall player has ever won a @BIGEAST tourney game.

The Providence Journal beat writer McNamara means no current St. John's player has ever won a Big East Tournament game.
