The Johnnies missed out on four-star recruit Brandon Sampson on Monday but a day later Chris Mullin continued to make an impact for the upcoming season.
Graduate transfer from Missouri State, guard Ron MVouika, has committed to St. John's and will be immediately eligible to play in his final college season.
The 6'6" talent from Paris, France scored 5.5 points per game last season and 2.0 rebounds per game in just 10 minutes of action per game (down eight minutes from the 2013-14 season because of a back injury).
MVouika didn't have much impact for the Bears last season, playing in only two games and scoring only 11 total points, but in his previous season he scored 28 points against Northern Iowa and put up double digit scoring marks six times.
MVouika played for Huntington Prep during high school, was not ranked in any recruiting lists and only held offers from Idaho State and Missouri State.
Known as a knock-down jump shooter (39 percent from downtown in 2013-14), MVouika could have a impact off the Johnnies' bench serving as a specialist in certain scenarios. The team lacks outside shooting and MVouika (along with Darien Williams) could help space the floor for Mullin's squad.
Even with another scholarship being filled, there is still a lot of moving parts on this roster and there is certainly more activity to come with Samir Doughty's meeting coming up this week.
