NCAA Profile: Seton Hall Pirates

The Hall returns to the tournament for the first time since 2006, looking to make some noise.

William Hauser-USA TODAY Sports

Team: Seton Hall Pirates

Conference: Big East

Coach: Kevin Willard, the 2016 co-Big East Coach of the Year.

Record: 23-8 (12-6 conference)

KenPom Rank: 28

Good Wins: At Providence, Xavier.

Impact Players: Isaiah Whitehead has only improved in his second season at Seton Hall, averaging 18 points and five assists per game. Khadeen Carrington and Desi Rodriguez each average in double-figures as well, while Angel Delgado has dominated the paint with just under 10 points and 10 rebounds per game.

How did they get in?: Seton Hall all but cemented its spot in the tournament on Feb. 28 with a dominant win at home against then-fifth-ranked Xavier. A championship in the Big East Tournament helped bolster their tournament resume as well. None of their eight losses were exceptionally bad, except for a loss against Long Beach State in their third game of the year at the Charleston Classic.

How far can this team go in the NCAA Tournament?: They've shown that they have the ability to take down top opponents, and their depth looks like it isn't an issue. The one issue, however, has to be the youth of this Seton Hall team. Seven of their top eight leading scorers are sophomores, and while youth isn't necessarily a bad thing in March, that has to raise some eyebrows.

Last time in the NCAA Tournament: 2006. A loss to Wichita State bounced them in the First Round. Their last NCAA Tournament win came in 2004 over Arizona.
