NCAA Profile: Middle Tennessee State Blue Raiders

Marvin Gentry-USA TODAY Sports

Team: Middle Tennessee Blue Raiders

Conference: Conference USA

Coach: Kermit Davis

Record: 24-9 (13-5 conference)

KenPom Rank: 124

Good Wins: Auburn, three straight in the C-USA Tournament.

Impact Players: Four players average in double figures with sophomore Giddy Potts leading the way with 15 points per game. Reggie Upshaw, Perrin Buford and Darnell Harris are all upperclassmen who average in double-figures as well for a team that has no shortage of veteran leaders. Upshaw also averages nearly nine rebounds per game.

How did they get in?: Three straight wins as a two-seed in the C-USA Tournament were enough for the Blue Raiders to punch their NCAA ticket. A loss by one-seed UAB in the Quarterfinals opened the door, and wins over Charlotte, Marshall and Old Dominion in the title game sent them through.

How far can this team go in the NCAA Tournament?: With a balanced scoring effort and some veteran leadership it wouldn't be a total shock if the Blue Raiders pulled off a First Round upset. That being said, it's very unlikely that they'll advance out of the first weekend... especially since they face Michigan State first. But that's why they play the games...

Last time in the NCAA Tournament: 2013. Their last win came all the way back in 1982.
