NCAA Profile: California Golden Bears

The 4-seed in the South comes with a lot of NBA-possible freshman talent.

Kyle Terada-USA TODAY Sports

Team: California Golden Bears

Conference: Pac-12 Conference

Coach: Cuonzo Martin

Record: 23-10, 12-6 in conference

KenPom Rank: 21

Good wins: Over Arizona, Utah, Oregon at home; over Oregon State twice.

Bad Loss: to Richmond, neutral court

Impact Players: With a number of players getting serious NBA looks, it's hard to choose, but freshman Jaylen Brown has been a dynamic scorer for the Bears at about 15 points per game, while freshman center Ivan Rabb has been strong, scoring 12 points and grabbing eight assists per game. Senior Tyrone Wallace also scores 15 points/ game while adding four assist.

How did they get in?: At large, after winning nine of their last ten in Pac-12 play.

How far can this team go in the NCAA Tournament?: Talent, so much talent coming together. Despite falling to Utah in overtime in the Pac-12 Tournament, it's hard to believe this team isn't rolling right now. Plus, with three seven-footers, Cal has the best defense inside the arc in the country. They can be sloppy with the ball. Sweet Sixteen.

Last time in the NCAA Tournament: 2013 under former coach Mike Montgomery.
