NCAA Profile: Colorado Buffaloes

Questionable point guard play could be an issue.

Ron Chenoy-USA TODAY Sports

Team: Colorado Buffaloes

Conference: Pac-12 Conference

Coach: Tad Boyle

Record: 22-11, 10-8 in conference

KenPom Rank: 55

Good wins: Over Oregon, Arizona and California at home.

Impact Players: Josh Scott and Wesley Gordon are excellent shot blockers; their work allows the Buffs to have one of the shortest lengths of possession on defense in the country while not forcing turnovers. The Buffs hold opponents to 44% inside the arc as well.

They are not great scorers - though the Buffs do hit nearly 39% of their outside shots behind George King and former Providence player Josh Fortune. Point guard play from Dom Collier and Thomas Akyazili will tell their tale.

How did they get in?: The Pac-12 is seen as strong, so a 10-8 record was enough for an 8-seed, given their wins. And despite the fact that they were outscored in conference play, which is never a good sign

How far can this team go in the NCAA Tournament?: First round knockout. Tad Boyle is an excellent coach, despite having one win in three tries in the NCAA Tournament. But this team lacks a lot of what it takes to win, except height.

Last time in the NCAA Tournament: 2014.
