Team: USC Trojans
Conference: Pac-12
Coach: Andy Enfield
Record: 21-12, 9-9
KenPom Ranking: 49
Good wins: Monmouth, Wichita State, Yale, Arizona, Colorado, Oregon State
Impact Players: Jordan McLaughlin (13.4 ppg), Nikola Jovanovic (12.7 ppg, 7.0 rpg), Julian Jacobs (11.8 ppg, 4.9 rpg, 5.5 apg), Ketin Reinhardt (11.5 ppg), Bennie Boatwright (11.5 ppg).
How did they get in?: The Trojans were one of the more surprising teams in America this year as they started out the season 15-3 and lost only two games before the new year (Monmouth and Xavier). They finished sixth in the Pac-12, but a win over the Wildcats set them up for success despite an ugly ending to the season for Andy Enfield, the former Florida Gulf Coast coach.
How far can this team go in the NCAA Tournament?: USC is long and balanced but they are young and were given a really difficult draw. First they have to match-up against Kris Dunn, Ben Bentil and the Providence Friars and if they win, they would have to play the Tar Heels in Raleigh. While the Trojans have talent, it looks like next year might be their season to advance in the Big Dance.
Last time in the NCAA Tournament: In 2011, they lost in the first round.
