NCAA Profile: Wisconsin Badgers

Wisconsin is under new management - can they reach the Final Four again?

Brian Spurlock-USA TODAY Sports

Team: Wisconsin Badgers

Conference: Big Ten Conference

Coach: Greg Gard

Record: 20-12 overall, 12-6 in conference

KenPom Rank: 32

Good wins: over Michigan State and Indiana at home; over Iowa and Maryland on the road.

Impact Players: Though missing the NBA-level players of previous seasons, the Badgers found enough scoring punch with forwards Nigel Hayes and Ethan Happ. Happ handles the rebounding, while Hayes is an inside/ outside shooter.

How did they get in?: The Badgers' longtime coach Bo Ryan stepped down after a December win over Texas A&M Corpus Christi, giving the job to his assistant Greg gard. That allowed Gard to audition for the job. Despite a five game stretch where the Badgers only defeated Rutgers, Gard righted the ship, winning seven straight and 11 of the team's last 13.

How far can this team go in the NCAA Tournament?: The Badgers have lost their last two, but still can make it to the Sweet Sixteen with their seven-man rotation. The big Pittsburgh squad might be a load to handle, though, so don't bet your life savings on a Badger run.

Last time in the NCAA Tournament: 2015, when they reached the NCAA title game, losing to Duke.
