Tonight's St. John's/ Marquette basketball game has been cancelled, to be rescheduled at an undetermined date.
Whew. The weather outside IS frightful. Even if the 7-12 Red Storm, having rested for a week, wanted to get back on the court and get into the win column in Big East play, they'll have to wait. [Read our game preview, anyway.]
There is a travel ban in effect in New York - with the LIRR and aboveground subway lines suspended for safety.

So it makes sense that the game would be cancelled. St. John's was hoping for a chance at the first Big East win, and obviously both teams were ready to play in front of the 30 people who made it in cross country skis, but alas.
Marquette is already in New York, and enjoying themselves:

Hopefully they can get home in the next few days; snowfall in the heavy storm Jonas is expected to reach up to 30 inches in some areas.
