This is the granddaddy of them all!
Or, at least, of the first three games.
St. John's travels to see a major conference foe in Minnesota. The Golden Gophers have size and a 3-0 record, but haven't been tested by major conference competition. As part of the Gavitt Games series, St. John's will provide that test - while being tested themselves.

Notes
We are about the find out how much St. John's has improved.
Shamorie Ponds is one of 6 overlooked freshmen.
The Daily Gopher's preview of tonight's game.
Both Minnesota and St. John's mine the NYC area for recruits.
What we are looking for tonight:
- Dependent on so many newcomers, how will St. John's react for the larger arena, road environment, and raised court at Minnesota's Williams Arena?
- Can Ponds/ LoVett/ Mussini score in bunches and pace the Red Storm against a bigger, more talented opponent?
- How will Yankuba Sima and Tariq Owens handle the size of the Gopher front line?
