St. John's is in search of more.
More than close losses, even if that is a gigantic improvement from last season.
More production inside the arc - from the big men and the little slashers.
More ability to put away competitve games.
For better rebounding.
Tonight's game against VCU is in the consolation bracket, but make no mistake - five of the teams in the Tournament have a very good shot of reaching the NCAA Tournament, and St. John's is, at the moment, working to get into that range. A win tonight would assuage the fears of those who, against the logical predictions from most college basketball pundits, expected a fast and vast improvement. And a win tonight would likely mean that the team found a sonsisten third contributor from the likes of Bashir Ahmed, Kassoum Yakwe, Yankuba Sima, or Tariq Owens (or Malik Ellison or Federico Mussini).
