A good friend of mine once worked at Cal State Northridge; an aunt lived nearby in Reseda. I've been out that way a few times, and there is nothing more forgettable than the strip-mall California of San Fernando Valley, an area known for... well... other things that sports and sun and sand.
I bring that up because I think it's pleasant that St. John's has invited the Northridge basketball team out for a game. St. John's fans hope that this trip will be a chance for Reggie Theus to show his team the wonders of New York and colder weather, not a victory they will be talking about for years, pointing at as a momentary turnaround for the Matadors, a team whose defense is appropriately reflected in their name.
(Though Matadors also allowed the bull through until it's time for a kill shot, so, let's not have that either.)
The Matadors also keep everything inside - they score inside the arc, they force teams inside the arc - so foul trouble could be a factor, as could the St. John's big men's ability to handle and score inside.
