St. John's received some surprise guests this afternoon - the Golden State Warriors!
Must Reads
The reigning NBA Champions are still tearing through the NBA this season after their win at Madison Square Garden on Sunday, upping their record to 44-4. That game, in the evening after the St. John's 68-53 loss to Villanova, also provided an opportunity for Rawle Alkins to meet Steph Curry.
But Chris Mullin - a former Golden State Warriors exec - didn't want players like Federico Mussini to miss out on the chance to meet Curry, Klay Thompson, and the rest of the Warriors, who play a free-flowing and aggressive style of offensive basketball.
Continuing to leverage New York City as the place where a player can learn from and hobnob with greats, especially those who share an Under Armour affiliation = good marketing.
St. John's point guard Mussini has often stated that his favorite player is Steph Curry - similarly small for his position, with a quick trigger. We know he appreciated the chance to watch Curry practice, up close and personal. And note what looks like a little side eye from Marcus Lovett in the middle...
The Warriors face the Washington Wizards tomorrow; St. John's will be traveling to Cincinnati to take on the Xavier Musketeers (and we will have our previews, Q and A's and game thread coming in the next day).
