The Battle For Ninth Place is on!

St. John's takes on DePaul once again tonight, with big stakes! (Relatively.)

Consider that St. John's is vying for:

  • the season sweep over DePaul,
  • a second Big East victory,
  • the team's first true road win on the season, and
  • being able to tell their friends on Providence "well, at least we didn't lose to DePaul!"

Somehow, St. John's started as 5 1/2 point underdogs, despite winning 80-65 in Queens a week ago, snapping the 16-game losing streak. That line has moved to 4 1/2 points but still - DePaul may or may not have the services of sublime lead guard Billyh Garrett, Jr. tonight. And DePaul lost by 15 to St. John's in a game where, except for a run to start the second half, the Blue Demons were handled well.

That said, both of these teams can be careless with the ball, and DePaul is blessed with size - size they did not use to attack the offensive glass in the last matchup.

Was the last win a blip? Will DePaul be out for revenge? Will Rashaun Stimage and Myke Henry get the best of St. John's bigs Kassoum Yakwe and Yankuba Sima?

Let's start the conversation! And while we are waiting, highlights from the last game.
