Game thread: St. John's vs Creighton

Steven Branscombe-USA TODAY Sports

Tonight, St. John's faces Creighton, one of the top-five shooting teams inside and outside the arc, in a juiced-up Carnesecca Arena. [Read our game preview, while you get set.]

A win tonight could really put the Big East on notice. A loss would be deflating, but expected. A beating would raise questions once again about this team's ability to be consistent, despite the powerhouse of a foe. The Bluejays defend without fouling, but aren't a team that leans on its defense.

So if St. John's can slow the Bluejays down - and note, only Oral Roberts has kept Creighton below 1 point per possession - maybe they will have a chance. Seven-foot center Justin Patton will be hard to handle; last season, Creighton attacked St. John's interior to imbalance the Red Storm offense and bombed away from there.

Federico Mussini will also likely play tonight, which will be some extra scoring punch - though Malik Ellison may edge him out for minutes with his versatile performances in the past month.
