Incoming recruit Josh Roberts shows some of his athleticism (video)

We just sounded like a Ball is Life video intro, yes, but Josh Roberts, he of the under-the-radar recruitment, shows a bit of why Chris Mullin and Matt Abdelmassih might be interested in his game.

In the two-minute video below, note that Roberts flashes quite a bit of easy athleticism. Josh Roberts gets up and down the court easily, gets in the air to block shots quickly against these opponents, and attacks the rim for put backs.

Near the end, you see Morris Udeze (#34) get double teamed, pass the ball to another player, who misses, when Roberts comes in out of nowhere to finish things off.

Things won’t be that easy in the Big East, where opposing teams will defend better and opposing shooters will be taller and more athletic.

For the current makeup of the Red Storm, Roberts could fit well - a shot-blocking center who doesn’t need to generate his offense, much like Tariq Owens - except Owens has a burgeoning jumper to go along with his rangy athleticism and cover-the-court speed.

But in this highlight, Roberts looks like a slightly taller Kassoum Yakwe with perhaps a touch less athleticism - which is a good combination to work with.

The signing period starts on November 8, and the Red Storm expect the faxed Letter of Intent from Roberts at Montverde that week.
