St. John's sophomore Shamorie Ponds earned Big East Honor Roll honors this week, after two games where he combined for 43 points, 16 rebounds (13 on the defensive end), and five steals.
In this period, as Johnny Nation points out, Ponds has actually struggled from outside the arc - something we will take a longer look at when we wrap up the month of November.
Through 3 games, Shamorie Ponds is 3-19 (.158%) from three point range, but is leading the team in scoring with 18.3 PPG. This shows his versatility; he’s 15-24 (.625) from two point range and 16-19 (.842) at the free throw line #SJUBB

But Ponds - who went 1/10 from outside the arc in the two games last week - still snaked inside the arc for points, shooting 67% (12/18 shooting) and drawing 19 free throw attempts.
The touch will hopefully return, though in Big East play last year, he also struggled with the outside shot, but whether he’s scorching the nets or not from distance, Ponds is leading the squad with hard-fought buckets.
