Because it has been asked a number of times - yes, Marcus LoVett will not be playing against Saint Joseph’s at Mohegan Sun tomorrow.
And yes, he may be in Los Angeles. But per Zach Braziller, the players are getting a chance to see their families/ have some days off - and LoVett is headed out a little early.
Marcus LoVett was merely given a few extra days off. Entire team will go home for a few days after tomorrow. Knee isn’t getting worse. Hope is he’ll be ready for Big East opener. #sjubb— Zach Braziller (@NYPost_Brazille) December 19, 2017
Chris Mullin spoke on the importance of rest before the Iona game (where the team had a layoff of over a week), and is a big proponent of getting some time off.
“I’m always a believer that rest both physically and mentally is important,” Mullin said. “Would rather have a fresh body and fresh mind.”
The concern for St. John’s fans is that the injury to LoVett’s knee is worse than the team is letting on. But Lovett is walking, is near the team, and we do not think that knee injury is something keeping him out for much longer (but what do we know, we are not the medical staff).
For tomorrow, Saint Joseph's plays eight in most games. Depth will not be any more of a problem than it has been for the Johnnies in Connecticut.
Look for the game preview later this evening from the Rumble.
